1. In 1985 Microsoft released Excel and entered into an exclusive contract with Apple. The condition was to not launch the software for PC in exchange for code details for MAC system features. Therefore, only MAC version contained Excel for the first 2 years.

  4. Some of the Excel functions are taking for granted. For example, users consider Paste Special, Array or Print Preview as obscure features. The idea of Pivot Table feature did not come initially from Microsoft. Lotus developed the application called IMPROV in 1991, which was accepted straight away. However, the Lotus competitors liked the feature as well and decided to implement it by simply changing the name.
